Husk felt his lips crack into a wide grin as he watched Lucifer curse, putting his cards down on the table.Three sevens, nothing to come even close to competing with his royal flush.

“You’re really no good at this, are you,” Husk said with a laugh, adding the chips to his pile. Lucifer had been doing terribly all night.

 

Who knew the devil was so bad at gambling?

 

“I’m not that bad, am I?”

“Baby, this is the best hand you’ve gotten in an hour.”

He watched Lucifer’s cheeks flush. Lucifer fiddled with the cards he’d just laid down. He was completely out of chips now.

“Another round?”

“With what chips?”

“I’ve got more money, I can just-”

“Don’t go down that route, I’ve seen where it leads.”

 

Lucifer made a little noise of disagreement, before he perked up, leaning forward in his seat.

“Play you for a kiss?”

“Just how easy do you think I am?”

“For a fuck, then?”

Husk laughed. “You’ve been spending too much time with Angel.”

“Can’t help but notice that that’s not a no.”

“Keep looking that smug and it will be.”

 

Lucifer’s expression didn’t get any less smug at that. He shook his head in fond exasperation.

“You’re lucky I own this joint. Fine, I’ll play. But if you lose it’ll last til you drop.”

“I’m perfectly fine with that.” Lucifer clapped his hands together, eyes turning toward the croupier who looked completely done with both of them. “Another round, please.”

 

As the cards started to be dealt, Husk leaned his chin on his hand as he watched Lucifer wiggle in his seat, fingers clearly itching to pick up his cards to check what hand he’d been dealt.

He was pretty sure that Lucifer would lose this hand too. But he was even more sure that Lucifer wouldn’t mind it this time.
