Notes
You've reached the final part! Though I'm now saying good-bye to this series, you've definitely not seen the last of me AppleHuskerDust-wise. Thank you for reading and for hanging around. It's been a lot of fun to write these.
It had been a long day at V tower, leaving him sore and exhausted as he wandered through the corridors of the hotel.
He opened his bedroom door, peering inside. As he spotted the silhouettes on the bed, he smiled. Whenever he was the last to come home, they would be there.
Stepping into the room, he let the door slide shut quietly behind him. He scratched Nuggets’ chin as he raised his head from the foot of the bed, watching him settle down again once he knew it was Angel who had come inside.
He turned on a small lamp next to his vanity, bathing the corner of the room in soft, pink light. He unbuttoned his blazer, placing it on the stool in front of the vanity for tomorrow. He stretched his arms above his head, feeling his tense muscles start to relax.
“Welcome home,” he heard a quiet voice, and when he turned to look at the bed, he saw Lucifer’s eyes like two glowing lights in the dark. He watched them flicker as Lucifer slowly blinked, one eye at a time.
Angel smiled, pulling off his boots and leaving them on the floor as he picked up his pyjamas. They would be a tripping hazard come morning, but right now, he didn’t feel like caring about that.
Pulling off his black shorts, he pulled on a pair of comfortable, fuzzy pyjama shorts instead. Pulling a sweatshirt over his head, he sat down on the edge of the bed. He leaned down to press a kiss to Lucifer’s lips, feeling his sleepy smile against his own.
“I’m home.” He gave him a soft nudge. “Now scoot over a lil’ bit.”
Lucifer did as he was asked, shuffling his body around so Angel had more room to lie down. As he did, Husk’s arm that had been slung over Lucifer’s waist squeezed him tighter. A moment later, he opened his eyes.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to wake ya.”
Husk hummed, lifting his arm to urge Angel toward him and Lucifer. “‘S fine…” He pulled Angel’s hand to his lips, pressing a kiss to his palm. “We were waiting for you.”
Angel let his hand slide across Husk’s cheek, leaning across Lucifer to kiss him. Then, he slid down on the bed alongside them, lower hands pulling the blanket up around them, upper hands squeezing both of them tightly, pulling them closer. He felt Lucifer nuzzle into his chest as he wrapped his arm around him.
He felt so warm, his entire being full with a gentle heat that spread throughout his body.
When he spoke, his voice was barely more than a whisper. But still, they heard him.
“I love you.”
Those three little words were so nerve wracking to say out loud, he almost didn’t know what to do with himself after. But then he felt the gentle smile on Lucifer’s face against his fur. Even with his face buried in his chest, he could see the glow of Lucifer’s flushed cheeks.
“I love you too. So, so much.”
Angel felt Husk’s hand snake around his waist, pulling him closer. They smiled as they heard a soft, happy sigh escape Lucifer between them, comfortable in their tight embrace.
“I love you too. Both of you.”
His smile grew, and he felt Husk move, his lips warm against Angel’s. He turned his head down to press a kiss into Lucifer’s hair.
On days when he hated himself, they were there to keep him company, helping him let go of his self-loathing.
And on days when they were the ones hating themselves, he was there to do the same for them.
He loved coming back to them, waiting for him to come back home.
Finding someone, two people even, to love so much felt like a dream.
Sometimes it was hard to remember that it was all real.
But it was.
As he squeezed them even tighter, he felt himself drift to sleep.
He wouldn’t trade this for the world.
