Written for polyamships. The theme was Domesticity.

The scent of freshly baked pizza wafted through the air in the little kitchen Lucifer had installed in the apple tower as Angel opened the oven.

“Hey, dinner’s ready.” He nudged Lucifer with a lower arm as he set it on top of the stove.

Lucifer looked up from where he’d been fiddling with a new duck by the kitchen table, having been dragged out of his workshop by Angel a few hours earlier. He hadn’t been able to sleep without night terrors for weeks, and while he didn’t need a lot of it, he still needed some sleep to function, and was feeling pretty out of it by this point. He hoped that Angel’s suggestion of a change of pace (and company) would help.

“You made pizza?”

Angel let out an amused chuckle at the question. “You’ve been sittin’ here the whole time and didn’t notice?

Scratching the back of his neck, the look on Lucifer’s face was sheepish. “Sorry, I got too absorbed, I didn’t really notice anything else.”

The duck was fished out of his hands, Angel studying it closely. It wasn’t finished yet, but it was clear that he was trying to make it look like Vaggie. “It’s cute,” he said, handing it back to him. He leaned down to press a kiss to Lucifer’s lips. “Even if ya didn’t notice what I was doin’, your stomach sure did. Ya gotta eat somethin’, c’mon.”

He ushered Lucifer out of his seat. “Get us somethin’ ta drink, will ya? Husk’s already in my room.”

Standing up, Lucifer’s vision turned spotty for a moment. He pinched his fingers between his eyes. Forgetting to eat and being unable to sleep wasn’t exactly doing wonders for his blood pressure.

He felt a hand run along his waist, and he looked up to find Angel beside him. “Ya okay?”

“Yes, just give me a moment.”

Angel gave him a sceptical look, but let him be, returning to where he’d been cutting the pizza into slices. Lucifer popped a bottle of red wine into existence in one hand, three glasses in the other, as he wandered through the glowing portal that had become a semi-permanent fixture in the tower.

He stepped right into Angel’s room several floors down, spotting a dozing Husk on the couch over on the far end of the room. With a smile playing on his lips, he walked over to him, putting down the bottle on the table, the glasses soon following suit.

Crouching down in front of the couch, Lucifer ran his claws through Husk’s hair, leaning forward to press his lips to Husk’s. “Wake up Husk, Angel made us pizza.”

Husk let out a low, cat-like trill at the touch, eyes blinking open. It didn’t seem like he’d even noticed that he made it.

His glasses had slid down his nose, and he pushed them back up as he sat up, blinking the sleep out of his eyes. Lucifer sat down right next to him, tipping closer to him where the cushions dipped from Husk’s weight. “Hey,” he greeted the now awake Husk, pouring wine into the glasses with his magic, directing the motion of the bottle with a finger. “What were you reading?”

Husk looked at the book that had fallen into his lap as he sat up. He’d lost his page, but he hadn’t gotten that far into it yet anyway. “Do you know who Conan Doyle or Houdini were?”

Lucifer shook his head, accepting the book when it was offered. Reading the back of it, he looked back up at Husk as he finished. “Sounds like an interesting friendship. You’ll have to tell me what you think of it when you’re done.”

Putting the book on the floor next to the couch, he huffed. “Sure, if I finish it. Haven’t really finished a book in a long time.”

Their conversation was derailed as Angel stepped through the portal, putting the pizza on the table. “Get ready boys, you’re about ta have the best pizza you’ve ever had, courtesy of my nonna!”

Taking off his glasses and putting them on top of the book, Husk let out an amused huff. “I know, I’ve had it before.”

“But he hasn’t!” Angel pointed a finger at Lucifer, who had leaned forward in his seat to get a better look at the food.

“No pineapple?”

Angel gasped in horror. “Don’t you dare! Pineapple goes in piña coladas, not on pizza!” He sat down on Lucifer’s other side, making him bounce in his seat. A claw poked him in the chest. “Put them on any pizzas ya want, aside from my nonna’s, got it?”

Lucifer blinked in confusion, but a smile made its way onto his face. “I’ve never understood why humans have such hard stances on this, but I got it.” Personally, he was fairly neutral on it, but both Lilith and Charlie loved pineapple on pizza, and so he tended to add them out of habit.

Angel picked up the remote to the TV, turning it on. “It’s just not right,” he complained, pressing the buttons until he found the movie he was looking for. “It’s like puttin’ peanut butter on a burger.”

“Sounds pretty good to me,” Lucifer picked up his glass to take a sip of wine, watching as Angel went through all five stages of grief in mere seconds.

“Ya got issues, sweetcheeks,” Angel said after a long silence, leaning his cheek on one of his hands as he looked back at Lucifer.

“Many, but I’m not sure what they’ve got to do with this.”

They were cut off by Husk bursting out laughing.

“So what did you say this movie was about again?” Lucifer asked as Angel pressed play. It had taken a good while to convince him to even watch it with them, still of the opinion that watching TV scrambled the brain, but he would do just about anything for the people he loved.

“A cop, a marine biologist and a shark hunter try ta kill a man-eatin’ shark that’s terrorisin’ a beach. It’s a real classic, it’s a crime that ya haven’t seen it yet.”

Lucifer hummed, Husk adding that he’d seen it in theatre back when it first came out, just a short while before he died.

“Sharks seem to have gotten such a bad reputation on Earth. Ariel must be devastated.”

“The mermaid?”

“My sister. She created them. Used to fly with them as they swam below her in the ocean.”

Lucifer put his glass down to pick up a slice of pizza. Angel watched him intently, gauging his reaction.

Eyes lighting up, Lucifer finished chewing before he spoke, hand in front of his mouth. “You’re right, this is amazing!”

Angel puffed up in pride, pleased at the compliment. “Thanks, sugar,” he purred. “Now let’s watch the movie, okay?”

Husk and Lucifer hummed their agreement, and Angel and Husk picked up their own slices of pizza.

Soon enough, the room was filled with the screams coming from the TV.

Husk looked to the side as he felt a head fall against his arm. He let out a tiny, amused huff.

Lucifer was propped up against him, slowly sliding further down in his seat. His breathing had slowed, his eyes slid shut.

Glancing over at Angel, he caught a smile that matched his own.

He’d fallen asleep in the middle of a gruesome death scene near the end of the movie, no longer noticing the loud screaming coming out of the TV’s speakers.

Angel found the remote in the dark, lowering the sound until it was just audible enough to tell what was going on, even as the screaming faded into the sound of waves.

Draping a blanket across their laps, Angel ran his claws through Lucifer’s hair, leaning over to press a soft kiss to his cheek. Leaning over him, he pressed one to Husk’s lips before he cuddled up against Lucifer’s body, small enough that he could rest his forehead against Husk’s shoulder even with Lucifer between them.

Like this, Lucifer was cocooned by bodies and blankets, finally sound asleep.

The portal silently fizzled out of existence.

This time, he wouldn’t have any night terrors.

Notes

I rewatched Jaws for the first time since I was in... middle school, I think. Also, the book Husk is reading is called "Masters of Mystery: The Strange Friendship of Arthur Conan Doyle and Harry Houdini". I am working on my series, I just keep writing the parts out of order so I can't publish anything yet.
