It wasn’t the first time his ambitions had put a wedge in his relationships.

 

Shu had always aimed high, especially when it came to music.

It was what had made his high school boyfriend grow bored of him, his interest in music taking over any lone time his boyfriend tried to spend with him.

It had made his classmates hate him. His hard work that outsiders couldn’t see looked effortless, his curt coldness coming off as a severe attitude problem (though that was certainly an issue as well).

His ambitions made someone he once called a friend grow to resent him to the point of setting him up for something he didn’t do, causing him to lash out. It was the first time he was forced to give up on his dream.

But it was fine. He just needed to find a new path to walk on. He wasn’t going to let anything stop him.

 

He’d thought he’d found that new path when he met Rom, Adam and Eve, but he wanted more than they did. He wanted to stand at the top.

So when the opportunity presented itself, he left, without a single regret.

 

It wasn’t the first time he had sacrificed a friendship for the sake of getting what he wanted.

He knew it wouldn’t be the last.
